This was going to be the first match Kendrick had since turning against the Turtle Gang, if they even still exist. It’s fitting though, going up against what is supposedly the leader of the gang. She sure never acted like one though. Hey, that was her style though. It wasn’t Kendricks. There was plenty that drove him from those people, was money one of them? Kendrick wouldn’t say, neither would the Dogs of War. Could he have been paid off by them? Sure….no one would know though, at least not anytime soon.
The scene fades to Kendrick in his office, resting in front of him was his laptop, behind him, his newly won championship resting in the middle of his trophy case.. He’d had it in front of him all day, watching tape of his former friend, Melody Marshall. Raising his head up he finally notices the camera crew that had walked in. He looked at him and let out a quick sigh then closing the lid of his laptop.
“Hey Melody. How’d you like that shit I pulled? Wait, you weren’t really there to pay attention….you were more worried about drinking and getting that title you so desperately cling on to. The title that you let Broseph steal. A damn stooge stole your title, yet you’re a ‘real champion.’ A real champion doesn’t prefer partying to preparing for every single match, a real champion faces the toughest competition every night, and they definitely don’t just let some damn ‘bro’ steal their title.”
Kendrick chuckled a bit before throwing his feet onto his desk. Smiling at the camera.
“The title that you want to represent oh so well, yet you can’t. You haven’t represented shit with that title, Melody. You know what you’ve proven? That you would rather defend that title against weaker people, easier people than someone like myself. Hell even this match isn’t for that title of yours. Another weak move, sure, they make the matches. They make the cards, if you really were a champion, a fighting champion, you would’ve asked it be a title match.”
“You’re going around bragging about how you have two belts, how you won that Trophy in the tournament and won 100k. See, thing about me Melody is I don’t need to brag about myself, I show what I am capable of in that ring, it’s what I do, what I’ve always done. Whether it’s MMA or wrestling, I go out there every night and show the world why I am the best in the GWD. Why this place is my stomping ground and why I will be the one who will take that title away from Storm.”
Kendrick shakes his head a bit as he takes off his sunglasses and puts them on the top of his head, his eyes now beaming straight into the camera.
“Melody, I don’t need the Turtle Gang, I never needed them. Sure, I started to fight the good fight with everyone, go against Storm and those Dogs of War. As the weeks went by though and the so called hierarchy came to light thinking you were the leader of the damn thing when Joe and I thought of it, we just changed the name to get you into it. You were never part of the original plan Melody, don’t act like you were either. Joe and I set the thing up then you all of a sudden think you’re the leader yet everyone wants to say I have an ego. Yeah, I’ll admit I have somewhat of an ego, but compared to yours mine is small, Melody.”
“I will admit, there is one thing that you have over me and that is a win. You have that win in the triple threat that got you that title but don’t forget, I helped you get that win, Melody. I helped make sure you have that belt around your waist because my goal has always been the World Title and beating Mark Storm. I won’t let that hang over my head any longer. Not after the Grand Prix on Friday. That Grand Prix is my chance to show the world that Melody Marshall isn’t as good as she says she is, she isn’t the top dog in GWD. That belongs to one person, Kendrick Kross.”
Kendrick nods in agreement with his last statement and pauses for a moment, gathering his thoughts before continuing.
“Look at it, Melody. You think GWD is your place? Look at what you were doing the night before the start of the tournament. You were stupid drunk at a bar, talking to the barkeep about if you’re going to win. Really Melody? You’re supposed to lead this place? That’s showing the world that GWD is just a drunken place, that we don’t care what people do. The top people can come to work drunk. I’ll be damned if I let you do that, Melody.”
“I did consider you a friend at one point, hell, I still do consider you a friend to an extent. I don’t exactly respect you all of the time though. If you cleaned up your act, didn’t drink and party all the time you could probably be World Champion by now. You aren’t though, you’re holding yourself back in this company Melody. I’m not sure you’ll ever realize that, though. Look at all the potential you have, you could be one of the best in this business if you trained harder. You work hard at this shit, you get rewarded. You work out everyday, train everyday, you reap the rewards. Look at me, Melody. I’ve lost once since being here. ONCE! That was in the finals of that tournament. Yet you think I’m going to let you beat me and put a second loss on my record? The day that happens is the day pigs fly. I don’t see that anytime soon.”
Kendrick lowers his feet and scoots up to his desk, taking his glasses off of his head and setting them on it. He opens a drawer and pulls out a bottle of water, cracks the top and takes a drink.
“You truly believe you have a chance you can beat me Melody, I applaud that. It’s admirable. That’s the only thing it is though. Beliefs only get you so far in this business. Melody, lets run down your opponents lately. Sam Hamilton. She left from here so she doesn’t count as a win in my eyes. Nameless, he isn’t exactly the best of opponents.”
“You want to go rounds in that squared circle I’m ready. If there’s one thing I do know, we’ll put on a show Melody, that’s one thing I will look forward to. Putting on a show, at the end of that show though it’ll be me standing over your body. It’ll be me showing GWD exactly who the main dog in this company is. Who the true money maker is in this company. It isn’t Storm and his Dogs of War, it isn’t you, it’s me. Kendrick Kross.”
“And when it comes to thevsupposed dealings between the Dogs of War and I that’s something that isn’t of any of yours or anyone elses concern. You want to get involved in it, you want to find out what it is that happened, you are the last person that could ever find out or that I would even tell.”
“After Friday when I get the win and the points over you in the Grand Prix we’ll finally see who truly has the most talent between us, who truly was the best one in that Turtle Gang. Spoiler Alert, Melody. It isn’t you. It was never you, never was going to be you.”
“After Friday we’ll see who the most respected, the most trustworthy person is….”
“KENDRICK KROSS!”
Kendrick grabs his sunglasses and slides them back on before motioning for the camera to leave as he lays his head back.
