Been awhile, right? Hi, I’m Baldwin Knight, your resident blogger extraordinaire! Sorry I missed last show, but with the big Pay-Per-View event around the corner, I felt it best to focus on the big show. And what a show it was! On a card featuring Monster’s Ball and the inaugural crowning of the Immortal Kingdom holder, how else could that night be closed than by your hero, not mine Mark Storm, defending his American Justice title against Brittany Anders. Personal feelings aside…
You know what? No. I can’t tiptoe around it any more. I have to be true to myself. You could say...I have to be a man, and I can’t let it slide...the biggest news coming out of Puroresu is the humbling defeat of Brittany Anders after blatantly tapping out to the champion. Mark Storm may be egotistical. Mark Storm may have a God complex. But for just this one night, after his victory, I’m comfortable enough to call him the hero of this story. He saved us from Brittany Anders, and what she would have brought to the GWD as her definition of American Justice. So, Mark Storm, from the desk of Knight Enterprises Assn, please accept this “thank you” as a token of our appreciation for your services rendered. And Brittany...on behalf of all of the Global Wrestling Division. I can’t wait to hear your public apology.
Now then with the elephant in the room addressed, let’s move on with the rest of the show! Starting with our boss, he’s the man who pays me, Mr. Ethan Roerich. We’re gonna have a Festival! Is it one of friendship? Hmm? Nah. This is one of heritage. The Festival of Heritage to be exact, is one celebrating three days of in-ring competition culminating in the crowning of our first Global Heritage Champion on the third day. Exciting! There’s twelve names announced, but we’ll get into them more later in this blog because...well our well-paying boss never got to finish his declaration of intent as he was interrupted by one of the most renown villains, Chris Crippler! Except he was appealing to the...fans? It’s almost like he wanted another shot at taking down our American Justice Champion’s God complex, which was a request that almost all of Los Angeles was in favor of! Never would have thought I’d see the day that Chris Crippler of all people could be seen as the hero. Lucky for us, Mr. Roerich in his infinite wisdom granted Crippler’s request. And stipulation too, “Marquess of Queensberry” rules...but there’s a catch. If Crippler loses here, he can never again challenge for the American Justice Championship as long as Mark Storm is the champion! It’s the #CripplersGambit vs #RoerichsGambit…
In the first match of the night, we’re treated to a fourway featuring the debut of Kendrick Kross, and a win out of nowhere just as fast as it started. Maybe quicker. You have to wonder if this is a sign of things to come. Global breakout, perhaps?
With a quick cut we’re backstage and, wouldn’t you know it, a super breeze came through Mr. Roerich’s office. Really gotta turn that A/C unit dow…..oh hey is that a superhero? Ethan Roerich has signed a literal, true-to-life superhero to the GWD. All this time I had thought heroes only existed in comic books and action movies but, wow, I guess I’m eating crow on that one. She’s Stacy Sterling, and she’s already got eyes on some top players in Storm, Crippler, and the participant in our next match…
In what feels like an eternity, it’s the match we’ve been hearing so much about! Resident all-around-good-guy Sammy The Lion has a date to the Ball...the Monster’s Ball! After what was nearly a half hour, Sammy Duke proved he had the heart to survive, and the wherewithal to keep to a game plan the whole time. Every time Sammy had the offensive, he stayed focused on the left leg, until finally Nameless’ leg gave way to Sammy’s Sweet Shin Music, toppling the monster onto a bed of thumbtacks to allow The Lion to crawl away with a win. I’m sure both men are feeling the effects, but curiously after the match Nameless took to Twitter to challenge Sammy to a round two, under ⅔ falls rules. Sammy hasn’t given a response yet.
(I’d cover this more, but I don’t want to spend an over-abundance of time on my own writings. Definitely check this match out though when you get the chance, I think it turned out really well and leaves the door open for a return match nicely too.)
Moving along, we have our crowning of the inaugural Immortal Crown, a literal crown that, when won, gives the wearer the option to “cash it in” at any time for an American Justice championship opportunity! But you have to be quick, because after forty-five days, you may be obligated to defend it as though it were a championship in it’s own right. Tony Savage, Adi Gold, Tapioca Joe, Broseph, Melody Marshall, Chris Crippler, and the hundred-forty-five pound Titaness, Samantha Hamilton. I’m just gonna sit here in stunned silence after the grueling thirty-five minute car crash of a contest I just watched before saying a few words;
Tony Savage probably didn’t have any “late night plans” after his unfortunate fall…
Crippler may have legitimately crippled the Battleangel after that powerbomb…
Broseph can now say he both fought the oldest man on the planet, and was tossed around by a beautiful woman in the same night...
The Titaness was my pick to win this whole thing until she met the ring post the hard way.
Melody is like an angel, she has no problem taking to the skies. Like she’s right at home.
Adi...oh Adi, I hope your face is okay...wouldn’t want anything to happen, to that…
And lastly but certainly not least. Tapioca Joe shows he “still has it” with the drive to keep his eye on the prize. Your winner, and inaugural Immortal Crowd holder folks!
For the full match, please, go to the GWD website (here: globalwrestling.freeforums.net/thread/100/puroresu-immortal-kingdom ) and watch for yourself. All seven of these athletes left it all in the ring, they really cemented themselves in their places in GWD history. Hats off to them all.
Lastly, we come to our main event, where Mark Storm defends his American Justice championship against Dollface Brittany Anders. As I mentioned at the start, we saw Mark Storm successful here as he forced Brittany to verbally, and physically submit to the pain of his superior ring work. But it’s the after story we’re looking at here. Mark Storm set out to embarrass Brittany Anders and show she doesn’t deserve to lace his boot, but Tony Savage returned after his own match to sav...NO GODDAMNIT HE’S ON STORM’S SIDE!! Look, none of us like Brittany, but no one deserves all of this…
Tony Savage has aligned himself with Mark Storm! He took a knee and pledged his loyalty to the Dogs of War. Are we seeing the real forces in control of the GW -- BUT WAIT THERE’S MORE! Tapioca Joe, Sammy Duke, and Chris Crippler aren’t about to let this stand, here they come. They’re not going to allow Mark Storm’s God complex to dominate this company! GWD’s “cavalry”, for lack of a better term clears the ring of the Dogs of War, at least as far as Puroresu is concerned...but I have a feeling this is not something the Dogs of War will take lying down.
Well, that’s our show for the night. Did you like it? What do you want to see? Who do you think will leave the Heritage Festival as the first Heritage Champion? And of course, Chris Crippler challenges Mark Storm for the American Justice Championship with EWC and SCW LEGEND Griffin Hawkins as the guest referee! Blockbuster show after blockbuster show! How does this company do it?
Check out the line up for all three nights of the Heritage Festival here: globalwrestling.freeforums.net/thread/101/vi-global-heritage-festival. Until next time.
