In a small venue in Los Angeles, GWD star Britney Anders sits at a table with hundreds of 8x10 promotional photos in front of her. She looks less than thrilled to be here, but still manages to smile and wave at a few fans that were lined up. She looks over at her new publicist, the same publicist who works for reality starlet out of the CWC Liberty Territory, Scarlett Highland. The publicist, Jill, was standing next to the seated Britney.
BRITNEY ANDERS:
"So, how long is this going to take? The time says three to five, but there are way too many people here for this to end promptly at five. I don't even want to be here today."
JILL:
"GWD selected you as their post-Christmas promotional event for a reason, Ms.Anders. You resonate with the people. Some love you, some hate you, but they are willing to pay good money to see you as the line can attest to. Just please, be professional, smile, and have fun. It is the Holiday season after all."
BRITNEY ANDERS:
"Exactly, which is why I would rather be with my family and friends, and not a bunch of overweight, pimple faced, thick glasses wearing-"
JILL:
"Enough, Ms.Anders. Your company and your bosses are trusting you to make this event a success. You hired me to help keep your bookings in order and your attitude in check, right? Trust me. This will be good for you and the company."
Britney rolls her eyes.
BRITNEY ANDERS:
"Fine. Let me just do the little speech version of this thing so that I can get to signing these autographs and get this event over with."
Anders stands and walks to the podium that is directly in front of the signing table. She clears her throat and forces a smile.
BRITNEY ANDERS:
"Happy Holiday's, everyone. As you all know, I'm The Living Doll, Britney Anders, and I'm here today to hopefully make your day after Christmas even more exciting than Christmas day, itself. GWD represents a new brand and style of wrestling, that doesn't cater to the average fan, but rather to the passionate, emotionally connected fans, such as yourself. As it's biggest star and future American Justice champion, I feel it's only right for me to address my upcoming match before we begin this signing. So, triple threat match...no stranger to those obviously. This time though, there is an opportunity to become the number one contender to the American Justice champion at stake. My opponents are Tapioca Joe and him again."
Anders looks at Jill who nods her head and mouths 'mention his name'. Britney grinds her teeth together before continuing.
BRITNEY ANDERS:
"Chris Compact. Both of my matches have involved Chris Compact and I ended up on the losing end of both. I think it's more than fair to say that he's a bad luck charm, or better yet...he's cursed!"
Britney flails her arms around dramatically.
BRITNEY ANDERS:
"The important thing to mention in all of this is that, he watched me tap out in my first match, costing HIMSELF the match too...idiot. And in our one on one match, he hit his 'finishing' move on me first to win. The funny thing is, I got right back up and attacked him, so who really looked like the winner when that match was over? I stood over him, and then I went on to make an even bigger impact at the end of the night, interjecting myself in the main event that saw Mark 'I travel the world' Storm, becoming the first ever American Justice champion. So answer me this, Compact, if you're such a BIGGER star than me, if you're better than me, why am I the one garnering ALL of the attention? Do you guys know what it is? Jealousy! He's jealous of me, obviously!"
The fans in attendance, waiting to get a signature of Anders begin booing, a move that stuns the young woman.
BRITNEY ANDERS:
"You guys can either shut up, or I can leave! Your choice!"
Jill looks at Britney and glares daggers in her.
BRITNEY ANDERS:
"Sorry, I just get emotional, like you guys. Anyways, it was obvious I would have kicked out of your finisher, Compact, so how you even regard that as a legit win is a joke. I'm STILL unpinned in GWD. And Tapioca Joe, your talent in the ring can't be denied, but O-M-G did your little promotional video for the last event NOT nearly put me to sleep? I was watching it and I have to admit, I was dozing off. I think you make a pretty good cure for insomnia. Put on a Tapioca Joe video if you have trouble sleeping!"
Anders laughs, but the fans in attendance don't seem to share her sentiments as they chatter among themselves about her being disrespectful.
BRITNEY ANDERS:
"Let's talk facts. If you go back and look at the views on all of the promotional videos shot as of 12/26/17, TODAY, the TWO highest viewed videos are BOTH MINE! FACT. Despite my opponents calling me a 'loser', or mocking me for tapping out, I'm making an impact that transcends wins and losses. At Heroes and Monsters, I will be the hero that GWD needs, but the monster of Chris Compact and Tapioca Joe's worst nightmares. Sometimes, even the beautiful can be scary. Now, let's get this signing over with."
Jill again shoots her a look, that causes Britney to quickly back track on her wording.
BRITNEY ANDERS:
"I mean, happy holidays, let's get this amazing signing started!"
With a smile, Anders walks behind the table and takes a seat. A young man, probably near thirty years old is the first to approach the table with his daughter, who can't be more than four years old. They stop in front of the table.
FATHER:
"Thank you so much for taking the time to be here today to sign for us. My daughter is a big fan. She really loves your confidence and your ability to-"
Anders cuts him off.
BRITNEY ANDERS:
"Yeah, yeah. What's her name? I have like a million people to sign for and you're taking up way too much time."
The little girl looks up at her dad, who is now flustered. The father speaks quietly.
FATHER:
"Her name is Isabella, but can you please be the hero that she looks up to? I get not wanting to spend your holiday here, but there are children here, a lot of them, and all of them look up to you for some reason."
Britney signs the autograph and slides it across the table to the little girl and then looks back up at her father.
BRITNEY ANDERS:
"I'm not here to be a hero, or a role model, okay? Your daughter looks up to me because you aren't doing anything worth while in real life. Boo-hoo, so sad...goodbye."
Britney looks past them.
BRITNEY ANDERS:
"Next!"
The father takes his daughters hand as she is holding the 8x10 in the other hand.
FATHER:
"You're a real piece of work. Merry Christmas."
He shakes his head and walks off as Britney stands up.
BRITNEY ANDERS:
"You know what? I can't do this. These people, they booed me. Now they think they can tell me who I am, and what I'm supposed to be? I'm done, Jill. If you want to sign, be my guest. Tell the fans that if they want to see me, they can tune into the third episode of GWD and watch me win the biggest match of my career. I'm done."
JILL:
"Britney, you can't just leave. You're here on behalf of GWD and Mr.Roerich-"
BRITNEY ANDERS:
"But I can, and I will."
Britney waves to the fans and laughs before walking off, leaving the flustered publicist standing there, trying to figure things out.
