RED SOLO CUP
Music- "Darkness" - Ahzee
Bright neon lights bounced off the steam ridden windows. The sounds of loud EDM music echoed off the high ceilings of the small but fluid condo. Red solo cups and empty bottles lined the counters as empty beer cans flooded the hardwood floor. It was a celebration of jubilant glee. Melody Marshall had won her second championship in less than a month. And now, amongst dozens of strangers and a few close friends, she was hoping she could all but forget this night by the time she laid her head to sleep. Not because she was upset but a champion deserves a championship level party, and this was her night.
Shot after shot ran down her throat. Her mouth tasted like cheap beer and Fireball whisky. The music continued as she moved through the party in an effort to thank everyone for coming and “mingle” with those she didn’t really know. Absent from the celebration was her opponent this week, Samantha Hamilton, and of course the “Puppies of War” as they had become known amongst her friends. After making her rounds, she headed outside. It was a bit chilly but even the cold couldn’t bring the permeant smile from leaving her face. She ran a hand through her hair and pulled out a cigarette as she placed her drink down on the deck railing.
She took a drag and for the first time, she turned and looked into the camera finally acknowledging the camera crew’s presence.
finally acknowledging the camera crew’s presence.
“You know; this night has been amazing. Really, these past few days since the festival have been some of the best of my life. I got to take this title across the country and represent GWD in another promotion where I defended another championship I am proud to hold. I got to meet new fans, turn more people onto this company, and I just got to do what I love to do – wrestle. Since arriving here my life has been one big giant upswing and it feels great. It allowed me to rent this nice place, meet these awesome people, and of course win this championship.”
Clad in rangy jeans, a black crop top, and chucks Melody pointed to the Global Heritage Championship around her waist.
“But I know that winning this thing was a lot easier than keeping it is going to be. And a champ’s journey is never complete. I was told that I get no rest. On the next show, I’ll be defending this thing against Sam Hamilton and trust me, she is no gimmie opponent. She’s a fucking beast and I know I have to be on top of my game.
It’s now killed or be killed. I have a target on my back and really, who can I trust at this point? Being a champion is an amazing feeling but it’s also incredibly lonely.
But that doesn’t mean I’m going to let go this thing and Ms. Hamilton won’t be leaving with it. In fact,…”
And that’s when she heard the big bang. She looked over her shoulder and then turned. Standing on her marble counter was a woman who was “twerking” as this kids would call it. Her microwave was on the floor and in clearly broken. She chuckled.
“Ah fuck it. I’m going to win anyways.”
She flicked the cigarette out and walked into the party and loudly yelled for people to start “throwing shit off the porch”.
Out Of Character: Shorter but only because I was informed my opponent would be leaving. So, I wanted to post anyways and get something enjoyable up.
